I think that Facebook and YouTube will be the most helpful for you, and that you should integrate your Facebook page and YouTube channel with your website. I also suggest that you add more content to your homepage. A video, especially one that is slow to load, is not enough. In my experience, a promotional program that combines search engine optimization with social media is very effective.

Hello Larry, we are a private medical assist company based out of public hospital in Phuket Thailand. We provide a fast track and 1 stop service for international insured travelers in Thailand but at public hospital prices.  We have just begun our services and we are setting up all the system and operations, we have set up Twitter, and Linkedin, and facebook and youtube, but using those to the best potential for our companies, we need some help to utilize them to be successful. Our service right now in our area does not exist because we are also in a hospital that is running a new system...Private Hospital experience and infrastructure, but public hospital prices, its a public hospital but with a private hospital look and private services.  Any advice or direction would be helpful to get our name out there better.

Best Regards,

James Nanakorpanom

I agree that participation in social media is key. However, each person has to choose his/her own approach.

I think one of the most important aspects of being social is being active and friendly. Anti-social is a term for someone who comes to the party and stands in the corner. For those who join facebook or other social sites and never participate will never realize the opportunities for growth that abound. And, sort-a the guy at the party that stands around talking about himself all the time...ya got-a bring something to the table that is engaging, has meaning to those in your circle and promotes conversation. I am still surprised at those who I meet in my local area who say, "Yea, aren't you on facebook? I know I've seen your face before. You always have interesting comments."

Jack I agree with you about Larry. This is another brilliant idea from Larry. I feel a good energy from this group and expect good things will come about for all of us. According to your definition of social media, where does small business social media fit in? Are we to speak of business and business practices only or will we grow as friends and business associates? I am in favor of the later.

Media is some type of communication: Television, radio, billboards, the Internet, a print ad in a magazine are all exmaples of media. Social implies an action where two or more people interact to share or learn something. So I guess social media could be defined as a vehicle that allows people to interact.

Just realized I never joined this group as I thought I had a couple months ago. I look forward to learning from and networking with everyone in the group. Will soon post an intro. Right now it's time to spend with my granddaughter in beautiful Tennessee!
