Social media is 80% attitude and 20% everything else. Of course these numbers aren't exact. What I'm saying essentially is that your social media success is determined largely by your attitude or mindset.
The article I cited last week,
Social Media One Bite at a Time, emphasized the importance of focus.
Another article dealing with attitude,
7 Tips for Winning the Social Media Marathon, stresses commitment, perseverance and other aspects of a winning social media mindset.
In
10 Keys to Building a Social Media and Web Presence, I listed attitude as #8. However, it belongs at the top of the list. Since the word tends to be overused, I chose to place it near the bottom of the list, so as not to turn off readers.
If you'll have the right attitude, you'll acquire whatever skills you need over time to achieve your goals. Without the right attitude, you'll probably muddle along and quit. I have a close friend who's a very talented blogger. Unfortunately, she doesn't blog much any longer. She never pursued one course of action long enough to see what might happen.
Attitude is everything.
