I have a host website, through godaddy.com.  What is the next step that I take to develop this site for my blog.

I might be Ilka, but that is not my recommendation for Bridget.
Thank you so much. Larry is suppose to call next week. But I love the input that I am receiving... Bridget
A beginner jumping in and launching a Wordpress blog is bound to lead to frustration and disillusionment.

When I launched my first Wordpress blog November 2007, it was my first blog, but I wasn't a social media or SEO beginner. I did some research and thinking before starting it. Despite that and despite my strong technical background, the first year or so of blogging was an enormous learning curve for me.
I know what you mean, Larry. I am STILL learning. I don't think it will ever stop as things are changing on a continuous basis ;-)

I have not heard from Larry yet. I think I did try WordPress and that is why I am here today asking for assistance. I will be so happy when I can get started.
I'll try you again tonight, but this time I might have to call closer to 8pm.
Around 8 will be perfect

I see you've already had a pretty lengthy conversation on this. I've installed a few blogs via godaddy. Their support on this isn't the greatest since I think they primarily offer it because they feel they have to.

I also discovered (later) that hosting an html site there is fine, and buying domains there is fine, but it IS much easier to host a blog at another hosting service that has 1) Cpanel and 2) good support for their services.

I personally found Host Gator to be that way, but I know there are other good ones.

And don't be afraid... once you get blogging... have some fun with it and get comfortable. Make sure you have a spam blocker installed (akismet) and Larry can give you some pointers about folks leaving comments, etc.

Good luck Bridget... I'm sure Larry can help you out.
If you need a bit of tweaking "after the fact" with graphics, depending on what template you are using, I am available...

Christine

P.S. I have a few questions about backing up a blog and updating... so I'll pose them elsewhere for another topic and comments. :)

P.S.S. I'd also like to know how to "EDIT" your comment since the site says you have 15 minutes to do so but no link... ? I clicked on add reply on my own reply and it opened in html format... Maybe Larry can give us a few pointers. I also noticed that every time I click "ADD REPLY" to someone's post, it asks me to MUST JOIN... but I am alrleady logged in... is that typical?
It does open in quasi HTML which is the way that all comments work on Ning.

By "add reply," do you mean "reply to this?"
